Keizahn's History:
Keizahn was hatched in a normal community on Thalia. Although very strong by our standards, he was soon found to be physically lacking by Coursir standards, making it dangerous for his community to support him. After a ship landed on his planet, he decided to leave, taking the burden of expelling him from the community off his leader's shoulders. Instead of dropping him off at the nearest planet, which was their initial agreement, the captain realized that Keizahn's strength (and ferocious natural appearance) was extremely useful and decided to keep him on board.
About the Coursirs:
They're a lizard-like race that lives in the tops of the high trees of their home world. They live in small communities with only about 30 members each. Once a community gets too large, it splits apart to form two communities, the weaker one going elsewhere to form a new territory. The community is ruled by an alpha pair that makes the quick decisions, although almost all everyday decisions are democratic. Alphas may rule for over 100 Earth years.
There is almost an exact male to female ratio. Since the gender depends on the temperature of the eggs, the community can adjust the eggs accordingly if a gender is lacking. The species pairs for life, although if one dies, the living member is allowed to take a second mate. Each pair has one egg per year, which is put into a community pot, thus making it impossible to determine parents. The hatchlings are raised by the community.
About Thalia:
Thalia is a moist planet with vastly differing seasons. It rains every third year for almost two months, flooding the bottom layers of the planet. This creates a surplus of food, especially water-dwelling creatures like fish, which are the main staple for Coursirs during this time. Of course, it also drives larger predators into the trees, making it very dangerous during this time. For this reason, entire communities have been known to be wiped out during and after the rainy season.
How time is calculated:
The basic teller of time is decided by the ruling Alpha male in the community. The Alphas are therefore meticulously kept track of, with documentation spanning back through centuries. The secondary factor is the sun. The days last a very long time on Thalia. One Earth year is made up of 120 Thalian days.
To hatch on the seventh day of sun in the year of Althas' rule is to be born on January 21st (Earth calendar) almost fifty years before. (Unless my math is wrong, which is quite possible @__@;; )
